  1. 'Nolia

From the recording Elsie-The EP

I travel. A lot. And often times my travels take me to places that make me long for a tall glass of sweet tea and a "hey y'all" instead of iced tea and a "get outta the way". "Nolia" was birthed in 2015 after I made it home from traveling all summer. It is my love and appreciation for The South, wrapped in a song.

Lyrics

South Mississippi
Born and raised
Daddy taught me bout life, Mama taught me how to pray
Two parents six kids
Two bedroom trailer
We made it this far thanks to my Savior

Most people couldn't put two feet in my shoes
So when they ask how in the world do we do what we do

I tell em Baby Baby Babe we from that Nolia
Come on down so we can show ya just how we do it and how its done
They say we come last but we come second to none
We're cornbread fed, raised on greens and grits
And the further south you go the thicker our skin gets
Down in that Nolia

South Mississippi
Born and bred
We aint just a bunch of hillbillies and rednecks
We're classy when we wanna be but don't mind getting dirty
Try and shame us if you want we'll bless your heart and still have mercy

Most people couldn't put two feet in my shoes
So when they ask how in the world do we do what we do

I tell em Baby Baby Babe we from that Nolia
Come on down so we can show ya just how we do it and how its done
They say we come last but we come second to none
We're cornbread fed, raised on greens and grits
And the further south you go the thicker our skin gets
Down in that Nolia
Down in that Nolia

You don't know Nolia
Like I know, Know ya
Wanna go see what Nolia's about x2

Down in that Noia
Down in that Nolia

Most people couldn't put two feet in my shoes
So when they ask how in the world do we do what we do

I tell em Baby Baby Babe we from that Nolia
Come on down so we can show ya just how we do it and how its done
They say we come last but we come second to none
We're cornbread fed, raised on greens and grits
And the further south you go the thicker our skin gets
Down in that Nolia x2

Fried fish
Collard greens
Sippin sweet tea on my front porch swing
sucking on crawfish taste just right
Baby take a sip of this Southern Life x2

Down in that Nolia!
Down in that Nolia!
